Courtney Abrams named as a 2014 Southern California “Rising Star”

CULVER CITY, Calif. - June 26, 2014 - PRLog -- Courtney Abrams named as a 2014 Southern California “Rising Star” in the category of Employment Litigation, an honor received by no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in California.

Ms. Abrams received her J.D. from Southwestern Law School and her B.A. from University of California, Los Angeles, where she majored in Economics, and minored in English Literature.

During law school, Ms. Abrams worked for the ACLU of Southern California on federal cases involving wrongful deportation, mental health and prison reform, and clerked in the office of the Los Angeles County Public Defender. She also served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Terry Hatter, Jr., U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. In addition, Ms. Abrams clerked at the civil rights firm, Hadsell, Stormer, Keeny, Richardson and Renick where she worked on employment discrimination cases. Ms. Abrams was a recipient of the Public Interest Law Foundation Grant.

After graduation from law school, Ms. Abrams joined the civil rights and employment firm Schonbrun DeSimone Seplow Harris Hoffman and Harrison, LLP, where she litigated individual employment discrimination cases, wage and hour class actions on behalf of California technology workers, security guards, and entertainment industry employees, as well as consumer class actions, and police misconduct cases.

Following her tenure with Schonbrun DeSimone Seplow Harris Hoffman and Harrison, LLP, Ms. Abrams joined The Gillam Law Firm where she litigated individual employment discrimination and harassment cases, in addition to wage and hour class actions brought on behalf of transportation industry employees.

Taking the knowledge and experience she acquired at her prior firms, Ms. Abrams joined Helmer-Friedman, LLP (http://www.helmerfriedman.com/) where she represents employees in all aspects of employment-related litigation including individual discrimination, harassment and retaliation cases (http://helmerfriedman.com/workplace_violations.htm#Discri...), as well as wage and hour class actions.

Ms. Abrams is admitted to practice in California state and federal courts. Ms. Abrams is an active member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Beverly Hills Bar Association and California Employment Lawyers Association. Ms. Abrams serves on the Saturday Morning Seminar Committee of the Labor and Employment section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Labor and Employment section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association.
