myON expands personalized reading platform with literacy toolkit

MINNEAPOLIS - June 25, 2014 - PRLog -- myON (http://www.myon.com/) is expanding its award-winning digital literacy platform to include a set of literacy tools to further personalize the reading experience for students, while growing instructional capabilities for teachers. These literacy tools will be an addition to myON’s existing digital collection of more than 7,000 enhanced digital books with multimedia scaffolds and embedded assessments.

The first set of literacy tools to be released includes tools to support close reading. Students can use embedded tools in all myON digital books to practice close reading skills like highlighting and note taking. More than 70% of the myON collection is comprised of informational text, which serves as a base from which educators can teach how to cite evidence to support the text with close reading. The myON license ensures that each book is always accessible no matter how many students are reading and that each student has a personal copy for their own close reading. This allows teachers and students to collaborate together and interact with texts in new ways.
