Betsy Kastak of Sinai Children’s Hospital Joins Health Panel Discussing Issues of Summer Safety

CHICAGO - June 24, 2014 - PRLog -- (CHICAGO) -- Betsy Kastak, RN, C-PNP, a nurse practitioner in the High Risk Pediatrics Clinic will join other healthcare professionals at Sinai Community Institute this Thursday, June 26, to promote safety among families this summer. The panel, hosted by the Austin Weekly News, will also feature Dr. Gary Barsky, aboard certified dermatologist from Loretto Hospital (http://www.lorettohospital.org), and representatives of Rape Victim Advocates (http://www.rapevictimadvocates.org).

With the summer months come unique health hazards, such as dehydration, sunburn, food poisoning, accidents associated with landscaping tools and fireworks, allergic reactions to insect bites, and water-related accidents. Additionally, there are a host of safety issues inherent during the summer in urban locations that the panel will address.

Kastak has been at Sinai Children’s Hospital since 2001. In addition to her role in High Risk Pediatrics, she also serves as the coordinator of the hospital’s Child Protective Services Program.

Gary Jay Barsky, MD, is a board certified laser surgeon, well-known skin cancer surgeon and board certified dermatologist.  His practice focuses on adult and pediatric dermatology, including dermatosurgery, cosmetic surgery, skin cancer surgery, and laser surgery.

Rape Victims Advocates is an Illinois not-for-profit organization made up of many individuals with two primary goals: to assure that survivors of sexual assault are treated with dignity and compassion; and to affect changes in the way the legal system, medical institutions and society as a whole respond to survivors.
