In 2009 Hilton made national news when he gave away an entire hotel’s worth of rooms to people who had recently lost their jobs. He provided them with a weekend of training, resume writing, and interviewing techniques. Each person he guided got a job as a result of his actions. Bob Hilton began the process of developing the “Jersey Shore is Open for Business” campaign after Hurricane Sandy. With a budget of under $1,000, the “Open for Business” campaign has successfully reached 43 states and 13 countries. Now as the 2014 season kicks off, the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau announced the most aggressive marketing campaign to ever come from the Jersey Shore—the Jersey Shore Karaoke Idol™ competition. This competition is a fun means to a serious end. The goal is to attract visitors and attention to the Jersey Shore. Hilton enlisted the help of 2,000 restaurants and bars across the country to celebrate all that the Shore has to offer—culture, arts, dining, nightlife, etc. Through a vigorous social media campaign, he has invited karaoke-lovers to enter the competition for a chance to win a multitude of prizes.
