NEPTUNE, N.J. - June 24, 2014 - PRLog -- Neptune, NJ: New marketing strategies to attract visitors and business to the Jersey Shore are underway. The Jersey Shore Karaoke Idol™ competition has moved into its second week, with many hopefuls excited at the chance to win the $10,000 grand prize. This competition extends internationally, as participants from all over the world can enter.

“Robert Hilton, the Executive Director of the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau, strikes again,” says the NY media. Hilton, a top marketing professional, is known for his grassroots efforts to promote the Shore. In 2009 Hilton made national news when he gave away an entire hotel’s worth of rooms to people who had recently lost their jobs. He provided them with a weekend of training, resume writing, and interviewing techniques. Each person he guided got a job as a result of his actions.

Bob Hilton began the process of developing the “Jersey Shore is Open for Business” campaign after Hurricane Sandy. With a budget of under $1,000, the “Open for Business” campaign has successfully reached 43 states and 13 countries. Now as the 2014 season kicks off, the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau announced the most aggressive marketing campaign to ever come from the Jersey Shore—the Jersey Shore Karaoke Idol™ competition.

This competition is a fun means to a serious end. The goal is to attract visitors and attention to the Jersey Shore. Hilton enlisted the help of 2,000 restaurants and bars across the country to celebrate all that the Shore has to offer—culture, arts, dining, nightlife, etc. Through a vigorous social media campaign, he has invited karaoke-lovers to enter the competition for a chance to win a multitude of prizes.

There are three easy ways to audition for Jersey Shore Karaoke Idol™. On the competition website, www.jerseyshorekaraokeidol.com, registrants can choose to do an in person audition at a restaurant/bar/club, an in person audition at a hotel/theater, or an online audition via a YouTube video. The registration fee is $30 and comes with a Jersey Shore Karaoke Idol™ souvenir t-shirt. People who love to sing are encouraged to audition with an incentive of cash and prizes totaling over $25,000.

The Jersey Shore has always been a place to create lasting memories with friends and family. Hilton and the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau hope to keep the shore thriving despite the obstacles of a struggling economy and devastating hurricane. So far their efforts have preserved the Jersey Shore as a choice destination.

“This isn’t just about marketing the Jersey Shore, this is about uniting New Jersey and the east coast after several very difficult years,” Hilton said.
