GECU Named a Top Credit Union by Consumer Banking Index

EL PASO, Texas - June 25, 2014 - PRLog -- GECU, El Paso’s largest locally-owned credit union, was recently named a Top Credit Union in the Midwest Region of the United States in the Spring 2014 edition of NerdWallet’s Consumer Banking Index. NerdWallet, creator of user-friendly financial tools and information for all things financial, created the Consumer Banking Index, giving consumers the information they need to make an informed decision about where to handle their finances.

Understanding what is available in each region, gives consumers the ability to explore different options and learn what the best fit is for them when selecting a financial institution. Rated services include free checking, high-yield savings and free online bill-pay, along with accessibility to ATMs, branches, mobile applications, and member service.

NerdWallet conducted a nationwide survey of 1,000 consumers to determine the most important banking services. The organization then reviewed the top 150 banks and credit unions in the country (by asset size) based on these criteria.
