A new age of cancer education - Outdoors Cancer Education

STONEHAM, Mass. - June 24, 2014 - PRLog -- Middlesex Fells Reservation, Stoneham, Mass.—If you want to learn about cancer, what better way is there than meeting with the Cancer Research Simplified (CRS) team among the beautiful hillsides of Fells Reserve, Stoneham, Mass.?

Last Sunday, June 15, in a fun, action-packed and relaxed setting, hikers enjoyed the beautiful sunny weather and discussed many topics on cancer with Dr. Ayguen Sahin, CEO and Founder of CRS. There was nothing but happy faces throughout the 6.9 mile trail. Many of the hikers, which included researchers of renowned cancer institutes and hospitals in Boston, medical doctors from overseas, and teachers, used public transportation, to lessen the carbon footprint, too. They used their own feet to fight cancer through exercise and fresh air.

Throughout the hike, Dr. Sahin advised the hikers on patient empowerment through knowledge of their cancers, and she also advised the hikers on the proper use of protective sunscreens, on safe ingredients and on clothing and hydration issue, all things related to fighting skin cancer. Other topics were handled by Dr. Sahin, and she referred to her 45 multi-language videos on cancer on the www.cancerresearchsimplified.org website or on its Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/CancerResSimplified.

“I was thrilled to see so many happy faces enjoying being in the woods and meeting wonderful new people while supporting CRS’ mission", said Dr. Sahin, “It was especially gratifying that during our education session hikers paid close attention to detailed information on sunscreen application and ingredients that they never heard before. I was asked so many questions and I offered options for potential collaborations with cancer institutes overseas. It is wonderful to see that our mission and educational programs are so well received.”

The Fells Reservation hike was a rousing success for the hiker participants and for loved ones, friends or relatives who are fighting the disease.
