Classic Diamond House Awards Student With $1,000 Scholarship

NEW YORK - June 24, 2014 - PRLog -- The annual Classic Diamond House scholarship was offered to students attending college this fall. The goal of the scholarship is to give the winning student an award that will help with his or her education.  This year, students were asked to research and describe how diamonds became a part of popular culture, while indicating what a diamond symbolizes. Classic Diamond House was proud to announce Rachel Redmond as the 2014 winner! Rachel will be attending Oakland University in the Fall.

In her essay, Rachel perfectly explains why diamonds are a part of popular culture today. She begins her essay by saying how diamonds were first used in India as a religious icon.She continues with how in later years it was used as engraving tools “thanks to their extreme strength”.  She writes on to explain what the strength of the diamond symbolizes. “A diamond is strong; something that every married couple wants in their relationship, strength”.

Her essay continues on to explain how the diamond became a part of the popular culture. ” The birth of the diamond engagement ring can be traced all the way back to 1477 when Archduke Maximillian of Austria had a diamond ring made for Mary of Burgundy. This sparked great excitement for marriages among European nobility. The diamond trend continued to grow especially during the nineteen hundreds”. And what made the diamond the perfect stone for an engagement ring? “A man gives a woman a diamond because it is rare. They are meant to show a lady how much she means to him.”  And most important, “The diamond stands for beauty, purity and love. It is a gift that will last a lifetime.”
