Author Kenni York hosts 4th Annual Summer Youth Book Drive in Atlanta

June 24, 2014 - PRLog -- Each summer Atlanta based author Kenni York hosts a book drive to promote summer reading. Too often the school doors close and our children neglect to read, losing important fundamentals needed for the next school year and life in general.  Over the last four years Kenni's book drive has collected over 2000 books and hundreds of educational materials including flash cards, puzzles, activity books, and games. These items have been donated to places such as The Atlanta Children's Shelter, The Children's Hospital of Atlanta, and the Browns Mill Recreation Center just to name a few.

This year's book drive is being held on July 12, 2014 from 12 P.M. until 4 P.M. at the Naptown Riders Motorcycle Club located at 1657-A Lakewood Ave Atlanta, GA 30315. The Naptown Riders MC is the official co-sponsor for this year's book drive and donations will be given to the George Washington Carver Boys and Girls Club in Atlanta, GA. Donations of new or gently used children's books are being accepted. Individuals stopping by to donate on July 12th will get the chance to meet the cast of the Literary Ladies of the ATL, a reality show focused on four female authors in Atlanta.

Kenni York is the author of 11 titles to date including the childrens books My Dad is an Army Man and A Girl's Perspective.

"I'm hoping that the community will take an interest in investing in our children and their educational development by participating in this year's book drive," says Kenni. "We all have a responsibility to give back to our children."  Kenni's goal is to make a difference in the community and not just a dollar.
