Ashtanga Yoga Green Hill is located in the village of Goyambokka, near Tangalle (sometimes spelled Tangalla) on Sri Lanka's south shores with two extraordinary beaches at it's doorstep.
Goyambokka Beach offers a relaxed atmosphere with the comfort of a beach shack serving fresh coconuts, fine curries and fresh fish. Goyambokka beach is sheltered by rocks which makes swimming and bodysurfing safe.
Godellawela Beach – or better know as Silent Beach makes one feel like Robinson Crusoe. It's 800 meter long crescent shaped beach neighbours 37 acres of coconut grove and lines the crystal clear water of the Indian Ocean. At Silent Beach, one enjoys its utmost privacy while relaxing under the coconut trees, swimming, snorkelling or bodysurfing. Tough, the sea can be sometimes a bit more treacherous here but there’s a safe spot to go in for swimming.
Both beaches are less than a five-minute nature walk away from Ashtanga Yoga Green Hill.
Ashtanga Yoga Green Hill Yoga centre and retreat is situated on a hill with a Yoga shala and five spacious bungalows spread out in a tropical garden to accommodate students. Breakfast and dinner is offered in the garden café. Students staying nearby and wishing to join for practice „only“ are welcome.
Daily morning Ashtanga Yoga – Mysore style classes. MYSORE STYLE (supervised self practice) refers to the traditional way as taught by Shri K. Pattabhi Jois. Class is taught within a group setting where each student moves through the practice at his or her own pace and level and personal adjustments and teaching is given according to the individual needs. For students new to Ashtanga Yoga, there is a minimum participation of one week to be able to learn the sequence being taught in Ashtanga Yoga.
In addition to daily Ashtanga Yoga classes, there is a Vinyasa Yoga class taught each afternoon. Vinyasa Yoga classes are a choreographed sequence and the teacher leads the group from asana to asana. All levels and drop in students are welcome.

NATURE TRIPS within THE GREATER NEIGHBORHOOD...
Sri Lanka’s southern coast hosts some of the world’s most exceptional wildlife and endangered species: spot Leopards at Yala National Park, visit wild elephants at Uda Walawe elephant park or observe the endangered marine turtles nesting at Rekawa Beach. Trips to discover the greater area around Ashtanga Yoga Green Hill can be arranged easily when in Sri Lanka.
When coming from Colombo where most international flights arrive, the newly build highway up to Matara secures comfortable traveling. The last hour of the journey leads along a stunning coastline and the further south it gets, the more tropical it becomes with unspoiled jungle-like nature. Tangalle and Goyambokka on the southern edge are unique places away from the main tourist spots.
Sri Lanka requires a valid tourist visa when entering the country. The electronic visa application can be made online www.eta.gov.lk/
