LANSING, Mich. - June 23, 2014 - PRLog -- For over half a century, industrial hygiene professions have turned to the ABIH’s Certified Industrial Hygienist program to distinguish their expertise and to elevate their career opportunities.  During this time the CIH program has gained both national and international recognition and prestige.

The CIH designation is the premier standard in certification for the profession as it requires the industry’s most demanding measure of education, experience and examination. Since the credential is held by only a select group of professionals worldwide, those who have earned this esteemed recognition stand out from others in their field.  Due to these facts, obtaining the certification is a major career goal for many as it can help them take control of their current and future professional opportunities.

Employment opportunities abound for certified professionals trained to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, prevent and control hazardous conditions.  Many employment listings today require the CIH certification for applicants and in other circumstances it provides a critical advantage over others applying for an open position.

“In addition to self satisfaction, the benefits of achieving CIH certification are wide-ranging,” said Lynn O’Donnell, CIH, Executive Director for the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.  “Earlier this year, the 2013 AIHA Compensation Survey provided documentation regarding salaries that once again demonstrated that that those who have earned the CIH have positioned themselves for a higher income.  In addition, CIHs have a competitive edge in job placement or advancement, increased professional stature and peer recognition, instant credibility throughout the world, public and governmental recognition, and access to industrial hygiene contracts requiring certification.”
