BERTHOUD, Colo. - June 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Harley spent 10 years living in a small cage in a puppy mils, never knowing the touch of a kind hand … until he was rescued and found a loving home.  City Star Brewing, located in Berthoud, Colorado, learned the plight of the puppy mill dogs through Harley.  “Hops and Harley” then became a reality.

This fun event is designed to not only create awareness about puppy mills, but will also be fun for the entire family. All proceeds from the event will go directly to National Mill Dog Rescue for the rescue and care of puppy mill survivors.

“Hops and Harley” will take place on June 29th in Fickel Park in downtown Berthoud, just 3 blocks west of City Star Brewing.  There will be live music, food trucks, a silent auction, face painting, a photo booth, puppy mill education, great beer and more!  Harley, himself, will be there along with several other puppy mill survivors who are also “spokesdogs” against puppy mills.

Harley tells his story on his facebook page which currently has nearly 50,000 active fans: https://www.facebook.com/harleyfreighttraintaylor  His campaign, “Harley to the Rescue” has raised more than $150,000 for National Mill Dog Rescue to date.

City Star Brewing is not only known for it’s generosity, but also for great beer; as evidenced by their Gold and Bronze medals which they were awarded at the world renown, Great American Beer Fest last August.  This small town brewery first opened it’s doors just over 2 years ago and has since become a destination for craft beer lovers.

National Mill Dog Rescue has saved more than 9000 dogs from puppy mills in the last 7 years.  Their mission is to not only save dogs, but also educate the public about the cruel commercial dog breeding industry.  Located near Colorado Springs, they have a network of foster homes all across the Colorado Front Range, and they adopt dogs nationwide.  More information can be found at their website: http://milldogrescue.org/

City Star Brewing offers award-winning, small batch American ales, hand crafted on a 3.5 barrel brew system in the heart of downtown Berthoud, Colorado. John and Whitney Way, City Star owners, believe beer is best consumed fresh, directly from its source, and they've adopted a taproom-centric model encouraging this.

City Star's taproom is open 7 days a week: Mon-Tues 2-9pm, Wed-Fri 2-10pm, Sat 12-10pm and Sun 12-9pm. Six "mainstay" brews are always on tap: Cowboy's Golden, 6 Shooter pale ale, Red Necktar American red ale, Revolver IPA, Bandit Brown and Night Watchman stout. In addition four taps are always dedicated to specialty beers.
