Steve Stanganelli Enters Race for Massachusetts 1st Essex State Representative

Amesbury Financial Planner and Business Owner Steve Stanganelli Joins the Race to Provide a Fresh Start and Independent Voice for Families and Businesses in Greater Newburyport

PRLog - Jun. 21, 2014 - Steve Stanganelli, an Amesbury-based fee-only financial planner and resident, launched his campaign for the open seat being vacated by incumbent Mike Costello (D-Newburyport) for Massachusetts 1st Essex State Representative.

The district is comprised of the three communities of Newburyport, Salisbury and Amesbury which hug the mouth of the Merrimack River in the northeast portion of Essex County of Massachusetts and represents about 43,000 people. The community has been represented by long-term incumbent Mike Costello who announced in March that he would not be seeking reelection to pursue other professional interests. Mr. Costello is a lawyer by trade.

Steve Stanganelli is a Certified Financial Planner (tm) professional who owns an independent fee-only financial planning practice. He is also a Registered Financial Advisor with the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA),the nation's premier group of independent fiduciary financial planners. (For more information about this group, please visit http://www.FeeOnlyNetwork.com/Steve-Stanganelli).

Stanganelli is a long-time resident of Amesbury where he lives with his wife raising a young family that includes two toddler sons and an infant daughter.

"I'm in this because I believe I can represent us with a new view and experience that counts," Stanganelli noted.

In email comments to the Newburyport Daily News in late April, Stanganelli added "I come into this race with no illusions but I do believe that being an independent voice will be refreshing for the voters of the area as I will be able to offer a different perspective, free of party politics and with a keen interest in working with others to develop solutions to our common concerns."

Stanganelli identified the key issues that he will focus on during the race as more support for public education, making college more affordable, economic development through innovative tax ideas and business incubator zones and infrastrucuture development.

When asked by the Newburyport Daily News, Stanganelli replied that "I am not sure that any one key issue will dominate the campaign or the attention of voters.  People are just too diverse in their interests.  While I realize that there are certain issues that are important to each community such as historic district or waterfront development in Newburyport, school budgets and tax rates in Amesbury, flood insurance for folks in Salisbury or on Plum Island, I believe that the overall issues that will be important to all will be the economy and education.

This is why my focus will be on continued infrastructure improvements (locally as well as state wide), streamlining regulations for business development, education initiatives for improving life skills not just test scores (namely financial literacy and computer science/coding) and initiatives to help lower the cost of getting a college education or vocational training."

The Steve Stanganelli Committee was organized in early May after Stanganelli submitted double the number of signatures needed to get on the November 4, 2014 ballot.  The treasurer of the committee is Kristin Stanganelli, the candidate's spouse, a registered dietitian.
