Carl, a fourth-generation homebuilder and creator of the iconic Viking range, the world’s first restaurant-type range for home use, has more than 35 years of experience in construction, design and manufacturing and a lifelong passion for contemporary architecture. Carl stated, “C3 Design will offer an array of contemporary prefabricated luxury homes that are designed, engineered and constructed to provide the discriminating high-end consumer with a superior product in every respect.”

Pinwheel, the first series in the Rockwell Collection, will debut at Dwell on Design. The exte- rior cladding of the Pinwheel series will be customizable to give each home its own distinctive identity. “We are excited to be partnering with C3 Design to offer homebuyers design and feature choices not found anywhere else. We look forward to expanding our collection of unique homes with C3, providing the highest quality design and construction in the marketplace,”
Prefabricated homes not only reduce the timeframe of the homebuilding process, but also eliminate the stress and unpleasant experiences often associated with traditional homebuild- ing. In recent years, prefabrication has found its way into the ultrahigh-end luxury home market and C3 Design intends to set a new standard for the industry. Carl went on to say, “With our advanced manufacturing techniques, we want to further compress the timeframe from design selection to home completion while offering great architecture and the very highest quality luxury homes on the market.”
C3 Design homes will be manufactured in the company’s 70,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Greenwood, Mississippi using modular construction and incorporating structural insulated panels. The C3 Design management team will largely consist of former executives and managers from Viking Range Corporation before it was acquired by Middleby Corporation in December of 2012. Brian Waldrop, long-time CFO at Viking, will be President and CEO of C3 De- sign. Carl will be Chairman and will be actively involved in the design and expansion of the C3 product line.
Drawing on his background in design, construction and manufacturing and his love of contemporary architecture, Carl has assembled a team of design professionals, energy efficiency ex- perts, sustainability thought leaders, and building science authorities to create an extensive portfolio of luxury residences and accessory buildings, including a unique offering of free-standing, self-contained modular wine cellars. Featuring open floor plans filled with abundant natural light, C3 Design residences will be LEED certified, eco-friendly, energy efficient, healthy, smart, safe and structurally superior.
C3 also plans to introduce what it is calling The STAX Series. Designed by highly-regarded architect Carey McWhorter of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, the STAX series will consist solely of two story homes. Some models will feature bedrooms on the ground floor with living areas on the upper level to take advantage of scenic views. McWhorter’s expertise in designing multi- story homes in resort areas incorporating modern architecture has resulted in a collection of homes with a sleek, clean, contemporary style.
The company will also be introducing The Domino Series, developed by C3 in collaboration with Wier+Boerner Architects of Jackson, Mississippi.
