LMI Experts Part of Association of Defense Communities Annual Summit

MCLEAN, Va. - June 20, 2014 - PRLog -- The Association of Defense Communities (ADC) tapped LMI expertise on community-managed installations, water security, and human capital for their annual summit, which took place near the Pentagon, June 4-6.

Eric Stephens, Southwest Region director (http://www.lmi.org/About-LMI/Locations---Directions-%281%29/Southwest-Region/San-Antonio) of LMI’s southwest region, a former Air Force senior executive, led the community-managed installation panel on Thursday morning, which featured James Holland, Air Force deputy of installation policy, and explored how successful demonstration projects can extend to new locations.

Frank Reilly, senior energy and environment (http://www.lmi.org/Water-Resource-Management) consultant for LMI, anchored a Friday morning panel, which presented innovative ways to secure and meet water needs, and featured Curt Wexel, the Army utilities privatization program manager.

Pat Tamburrino, LMI’s director of defense and interagency consulting, former Chief of Staff in Personnel and Readiness at the Pentagon, contributed to the executive session of the veterans and military families council at the summit, which included high level talks about the transitioning veterans database.

LMI’s Eric Stephens and his panel sharing results from a model project to show defense communities how to save money per Section 331 of the National Defense Authorization Act.

Luke Knittig, head of external relations (http://www.lmi.org/News-Publications/Overview) for LMI, who served as special assistant to former Army Undersecretary Nelson Ford,  and to former Army Vice Chief General Pete Chiarelli, is also attended and engaged in sessions throughout.

With base realignment and closure an increasingly hot topic in the aftermath of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, this year’s ADC summit drew a nearly unprecedented number of defense, congressional, civic and industry leaders, with attendance topping 700.
