MINNEAPOLIS - June 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Math manipulatives have been an integral part of any K-12 math curriculum for decades. Now, thanks to Hooda Math, some of the most popular online math manipulatives are compatible with any device.

Hooda Math, K-12’s leading resource for free online math games, has released five math manipulatives designed to be completely device agnostic:

Base Ten Blocks (http://www.hoodamath.com/manipulatives/basetenblocks.html)

Number Line Integer Addition (http://www.hoodamath.com/manipulatives/numberlineintegeraddition.html)

Hundreds Chart (http://www.hoodamath.com/manipulatives/hundredschart.html)

Algebra Tiles (http://www.hoodamath.com/manipulatives/algebratiles.html)

Algebra Balance Equations (http://www.hoodamath.com/manipulatives/algebrabalanceequations.html)

Other online versions of these math manipulatives were built on Java or Flash, older platforms that no longer work with the most popular educational technology today. Hooda Math’s free math manipulatives (http://www.hoodamath.com/manipulatives/) are built using HTML5 code, so whether students are on a smartphone, tablet or desktop computer, they can take advantage of these free math manipulatives.

“As more schools turn to BYOD initiatives, it’s becoming less realistic to expect every student to be able to download the same native app,” said Michael Edlavitch, the founder and CEO of Hooda Math. “Hooda Math is proud to offer these classic math manipulatives as a web app for the latest EdTech devices.”

Edlavitch said he chose to launch these five math manipulatives first because of their potential for summer learning. The math manipulatives (http://www.hoodamath.com/manipulatives/) currently available on Hooda Math’s website cover every grade level in K-12 and can help students prepare for the transition to Common Core State Standards.

Hooda Math plans to release a full set of math manipulatives by the start of the 2014-15 school year. For more information about Hooda Math, visit www.hoodamath.com.
