The SBA Names MCCU Business Lending Manager Bruce Hurta as 2014 Financial Services Champion

HOUSTON - July 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Houston, Texas - June 12, 2014 - Members Choice Credit Union (MCCU) (www.mccu.com) is excited to announce that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has named MCCU Business Lending Manager Bruce Hurta as the 2014 Houston District Small Business Financial Services Champion of the Year.

For the last 50 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration has sought and honored small business individuals who have significantly contributed to the economic growth and strength of the nation through their work within their local communities.

The SBA Houston District Office serves 32 counties and accepts nominations in seven different award categories. To be nominated for Financial Services Champion of the Year, an individual must assist small businesses through advocacy efforts and increase usefulness and availability of accounting or financial services to small businesses.

Bruce Hurta is the Business Lending Manager at Member's Choice Credit Union (MCCU) in Houston. He joined MCCU in 2009, at a time when there was a strong need for access to capital in the small business community. Together with colleague, Pat Harris, the MCCU SBA loan program was created and has awarded over $42 million in business loans to small business owners in a variety of industries since. In 2011, Member's Choice Credit Union received the distinction as a Preferred Lender from the U.S. Small Business Administration, a designation that is granted to only eight other lending institutions in Texas.
