Millennial Artists Use Vocal Talent to Deliver Anti-Bullying Messages

PRLog - Jun. 19, 2014 - HOUSTON -- School may have just ended but a group of young recording artists will use their natural-born vocal talent to deliver memorable and uplifting anti-bullying messages to their peers when school returns in Texas this fall.

The Allstar Nation Tour (http://www.allstarnationtour.com/)– a Houston-based anti-bullying music tour featuring recording artists ages 12 to 20 – is scheduled to visit more than 100 schools and public venues in 30 districts throughout Central, South, East, West, and North Texas. The tour debuts in Houston in September.

“Bullying is a terrifying reality that needs to be addressed more aggressively,” said tour founder and Houston resident Dillon Smith. “Through personal stories and engaging performances, our artists will use music to ensure their peers never forget the message. Our goal is to unify students against bullying and encourage them to support, report and defend.”

Research suggests that music has a powerful effect on memory, mood, and behavior. According to some studies, certain songs and types of music can stimulate the brain to recall some of the emotions and memories of days past. Scientists at the University of Missouri (http://www.missouri.edu/) have found that people can boost their mood simply by listening to upbeat music.

The Allstar Nation Tour (https://www.facebook.com/#!/allstarnationtour)features artists who are popular among their peers. Most have a large network of fans on social media, some have appeared on national entertainment shows, and all have a common goal to use music as a way to speak out against and end bullying.

The tour will include 20-year-old New Caney resident Branden Mendoza, who competed on NBC’s The Voice Season 6 held earlier this year and is the lead singer of My Only Escape (http://www.myonlyescape.com/), and 14-year-old Frisco residentTristan Blaine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8oqQWqsLr0), a favorite among young fans who refer to themselves as “Blaniacs”. More artists will be announced later.

Artists perform Top 40 and original songs to connect with their peers. Between performances, the artists speak about bullying, share personal experiences and prevention methods. Assemblies are free to schools and last about 90 minutes. Performances are typically held twice per day.
