With the redesign of the shop in December 2013 the store is now much bigger with a lot of nifty technology that integrates perfectly with the stunning interior design elements. A sixteen meter-wide LED screen takes center stage like a football arena with a stadium shaped staircase.
FCBotiga wanted an additional “wow” factor. They wanted to fuse the digital and physical by automating its popular personalized shirt printing, making it more interactive for customers and cutting long wait times.
Embracing the digital experience
Working with TMT Factory and using AOPEN Digital Engine media players as the technological backbone, FCBotiga installed large interactive touch kiosks throughout the store. Customers can choose their favorite football shirt, add their name or text plus their lucky number, and immediately see the result on the large display to review what they have created.
The ‘Digital Locker’ kiosk is a fully integrated eCommerce project from product selection to point of sale. To buy the shirt, the customer simply swipes their loyalty card and pays. The final product can then be picked up from FCBotiga's "Printing Lab" without having to wait in long queues.
María Eulalia Perez CEO at TMT Factory says “We really looked at the design of the store to find the perfect integration with the technology to create that “wow” effect that we were looking for. On the sales and services side we looked at automating the personalized printing of shirts and designed the ‘Digital Locker’ solution to streamline this process with digital media.”
Getting the right technology
TMT Factory selected AOPEN Digital Engine DE6100 media players with AMD technology to power the displays due to their multi-display capabilities, rich media applications for smooth operation and quick response times.
BroadSign Digital Signage software was installed to efficiently schedule, manage and play the content on the screens. The system is linked to the stock management, order management, payment and communication system through a network that can be centrally managed and controlled.
"One of the main reasons for choosing AOPEN products is the versatility of the products and the lower total cost of ownership. Especially in the long run, these products are very cost efficient because of their low power consumption, reliability and endurance," María Eulalia Perez explains.
Successful result: driving sales
In the first four months after the Digital Lockers went live, FCBotiga enjoyed a 22% increase in sales on personalized shirts.
“The Digital Locker brings back the element of fun, because passers-by can see what others create and get tempted to do the same thing. It's a great sign that shoppers are willing to embrace digital technology in-store, which in turn is driving sales," María Eulalia Perez says.
Next to the sales increase, the store also minimizes waiting times as queues are much shorter at the cash register and the decision making process has shortened as a result of the product visualization.
