New Musical Genre Revealed as Swamp-o-Phonic Blues

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - June 18, 2014 - PRLog -- Officially coining a new phrase to describe his music, A Man Called Bruce offered the term: Swamp-o-phonic Blues.

"I think Swamp-o-phonic describes my music pretty well, especially those songs I play on my resonator guitar," Bruce said. "I use the term to imply a dirty, southern blues vibe within any musical genre I write including Swamp-o-phonic Rock, Swamp-o-phonic Roots, maybe even Swamp-o-phonic Jazz; who knows where the Swap-o-phonic vibe will take me?"

He added that other spellings may include Swampaphonic, Swampofonic, Swampephonik, Swamp-i-fonic, and others with or without hyphens.

"I prefer to spell it Swamp-O-Phonic," says the middle-aged songwriter, "But I just invented the word, so my feelings may change at a later time."

Bruce claims he has never heard the song Swampadelic by Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, nor did he have prior knowledge of the group Big Gus and Swampadelic.

According to the bio on his website, Bruce plays, 'American music with an edge that fits well in today’s musical landscape. His music owes much to the rock influences of The Allman Brothers, The Beatles, Lynyrd Skynyrd and other classic artists. But, you can’t deny comparisons to The Civil Wars, John Hiatt, and The Avett Brothers, along with other popular songwriters.'

The website also claims, "Steve Bogard, president of the Nashville Songwriters Association Int’l said Bruce is, “... obviously a talented writer.”

Also noteworthy is the fact that the Chattanooga Songwriters Association awarded A Man Called Bruce the ‘Songwriter of the Month’ award back in July 2012.

Bruce performs mostly in the southeastern US as a solo artist, including regular appearances at Opry Mills Mall in Nashville, TN usually appearing there on the last Saturday of the month.

In 2012, A Man Called Bruce embarked on a cross-country tour which included concerts in Charlotte, NC; Nashville and Memphis, TN; Oklahoma City, OK; Albuquerque, NM; Phoenix, Tuscon and Tempe, AZ; El Paso and Austin, TX; and a private performance in Seal Beach, CA.

He has performed for audiences in nearly 50 cities in 10 states, including Alabama, Georgia and Virginia (Washington, DC area) in addition to the locations visited on his 2012 Going West tour.

A Man Called Bruce has released three solo albums over the last few years including his simply produced folk record, Tennessee in 2010; Americana Rocks with a full band (he played all the instruments) and a rock n' roll sound released in 2012; and his 2013 release entitled RESONATOR, which includes 11 of his original blues and roots tunes.
