ST. CHARLES, Ill. - June 18, 2014 - PRLog -- The Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness organization (OCSA) hosts its 2nd annual Golf Tournament and Dinner to benefit its awareness campaign on Monday, July 14 at Boulder Ridge Country Club in Lake in the Hills, Illinois. Honorary chairman Rafer Weigel, ABC7 Chicago’s sports anchor and reporter, will welcome ’85 Super Bowl Champs and former Chicago Bears players, Jim Morrissey and Otis Wilson, and all three will participate in the day-long activities.

Event co-chairs, Dr. Cindy Charlier and Dr. Kurt Klepitsch are coordinating the charity golf tournament to raise much-needed funding to expand the unique awareness program OCSA has developed, the Veterinary Outreach Program (VOP), with key partners in the veterinary community, the Illinois Health Department and the One Health Commission.

Statistics show that ovarian cancer is diagnosed in one of every 55 women and is the number one gynecologic cancer killer. More than 22,000 women are diagnosed with this cancer every year. The VOP exponentially spreads awareness surrounding the silent symptoms of this disease through the conversations pet owners have with their trusted veterinarians, important public health protectors.

The fun filled day will include lunch and dinner as well as Krank It Hole’s $100,000 shoot out and $5,000 putting green competitions plus Krank Driver contests, unique at-the-hole entertainment including spirits tasting with Blaum Bros. Distilling Co. and raffles for signed sports memorabilia provided by Auction Merchandise Source. The silent and live auctions in the evening include luxury travel packages, original art, dining packages from Chicagoland restaurants Ovie Bar & Grill, Cyrano’s Farm Kitchen and more. Mrs. International, Amy Gregoria from Northfield, Illinois, will participate in a meet and greet and help award the day’s prizes.
