JIMS Doctoral Research Symposium-cum-
The objective of the symposium was to:
· To equip participants with the knowledge of the wide array of areas in which research can be genuinely carried out,
· To help participants with determining the specific subject in which they are best suited to carry out their doctoral research,and
· To provide them with methodological insights suitable for the various research areas.
Some of the experts were Prof. Biswajit Das – Director Centre for Culture Media & Governance, Dr Sushree Panigarahi - Fellow, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Contemporary Studies, Dr Ravi K Dhar – Director JIMS-VK, Dr C P Singh - Dean USMC,
GGSIP University, Dr Jayati Srivastava - Associate Professor School of International Studies Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Dr Kulveen Trehan - Assistant Professor USMC, GGSIP University, Dr Anubhuti Yadav - Associate Professor IIMC New Delhi, Dr Vipul Mudgal - Project Director Inclusive Media for Change, Centre for Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), Dr Saima Saeed - Associate Professor Centre for Culture Media & Governance, Jamia Millia Islamia.
The participants were introduced to the various research areas in mass media and communication research along with research designs, methods and tools .They were also guided by Mentors to choose a research problem in which they are best equipped to pursue research from the methodological and theoretical perspective.
The Programme is being organized at a time when JIMS is celebrating 20 years of its existence as an Academic Leader in Delhi NCR. With 8 higher educational institutes of academic excellence in Delhi NCR and 3 in Rajasthan, on one of which, Jagannath University has been established through an Act of Rajasthan Assembly as a private university at Jaipur, and another private university by the same name at Bahadurgarh, Haryana, the JIMS group of educational institutions have been gradually spreading their reach outwards to enroll around 10,000 students for various degree programmes.
