PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - June 17, 2014 - PRLog -- Against a backdrop of cooperation rather than confrontation, the China Health & Medical Tourism Association (HTMA) will sponsor World Medical Tourism Congress – Taiwan 2014, June 26-27, 2014, at Taipei International Convention Center, conference organizers -- the Global Benefits Association, Medical Tourism Association® and Taiwan External Trade Development Council -- announced today.

The mainland-based professional organization focuses on health industry investment and management, serving millions annually through 12 medical centers and a wide range of healthcare services including ophthalmology treatments, medical hairdressing, comprehensive checkups, traditional Chinese medicine and medical research.

“While exchanges across the Taiwan Strait have become increasingly common, more voices are needed to ensure that peace is consolidated with prosperity,” said Renée-Marie Stephano, President of the Medical Tourism Association®. “Continued dialogue will inevitably lead to greater economic cooperation among Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and, for that matter, the international community which can influence mutually beneficial regional partnerships that not only foster commercial growth and job creation, but reconcile differences as well.”

Working with Hangzhou Hospital, located in Zhejiang Province (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhejiang_Province), People's Republic of China (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People%27s_Republic_of_China), HTMA China has coordinated a health club that offers traditional Chinese medicine services, such as massages, acupuncture, health exercises and nutritional therapy. At Shanghai Oriental hospital, HTMA China has begun to attract a growing number of international patients seeking affordable, but high quality treatments and health-check-ups.

Underwriters of the educational platform at the Congress include Taipei Medical University, Show Chwan Healthcare System, Bupa, Dubai Healthcare City, Medical Travel Associates, and Health Flights Solutions, among others. Economic ties between Taiwan and Hong Kong have become closer following signing of the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) in 2010. Trade between Taiwan and Hong Kong totaled US$41.8 billion in 2011, up from US$39.4 billion in 2010, according to official figures. China is assisting Taiwan and Hong Kong to enter the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), a group of 16 countries negotiating to become what is expected to become the world’s largest free trade zone in 2015.
