Ceramic Polymer: Antistatic Internal Coating of Diesel Storage Tank

“Proguard CN 100 a.s”: This coating system with electrostatic dissipation capabilities was specially designed for the storage of highly flammable substances.

ROEDINGHAUSEN, Germany - June 17, 2014 - PRLog -- The port city of Klaipeda, Lithuania is located amongst one of the most important trading ports in the Baltic Sea. In 2013 over 33 million tons of goods were loaded. The trade of crude oil products in the region is enormous; last year more than 7 million tons, mostly from Russian refineries, were stored and exported worldwide.

In the international trading port of Klaipeda there are immeasurable colossal tanks for storage of crude oil and hydrocarbon fluids. Late last year, one of these containers was newly built. The beams of the roof structure as well as the complete interior of the container were treated with high-quality coating systems from Ceramic Polymer.

Height of the container:   28 Meters
Diameter:          42 Meters

Coating of the Steel Girders for the Roof Structure of the Tank

“Ceramic-Polymer SF/LF” was applied in two layers of 400 µm each, to the support of the roof construction. This system is solvent-free and offers a high and reliable protection against corrosion.

“Ceramic-Polymer SF/LF” complies with the ISO 20340 standards for offshore-installations. It also successfully achieved 10.000 Hours salt spray test according to DIN EN ISO 9227:2006-10 standards. These qualifications are of crucial importance, especially in applications in close proximity to the sea.

Coating Product:          Proguard CN 100 a.s.

Application:          2 Coats of 500 µm each

“Proguard CN 100 a.s”.: This coating system with electrostatic dissipation capabilities was specially designed for the storage of highly flammable substances. When oxygen is present during electrostatic charging, explosive reactions may occur in the vapour phase, on the upper area of the tank.  By the addition of nano-carbon fibers, conductive chains form in the coating.  These facilitate the dissipation of electric charging and prevent dangerous explosive reactions of the storage fluids.

In addition “Proguard CN 100 a.s” offers a high chemical resistance to different chemicals as well as resistance to acids, alkaline solutions pH values of 4-11. The steel surfaces of the roof and wall areas are protected in a sustainable manner even with permanent operating temperatures of up to 80°C.

Ceramic Polymer’s Coatings are officially authorized for trade in Lithuania

The SPSC, an independent service institution for product registrations in Lithuania, tested Ceramic Polymer’s manufacturing process, quality management and the proven technical attributes of Ceramic Polymer – corrosion protection products.

During the Audit the SPSC inspectors could attest to the quality of raw materials and routine production process Ceramic Polymer uses.  By purchasing these high quality products gives Ceramic Polymer’s customers assurance of obtaining tested and certified brand goods. Thereby, allowing a safe trade in the international market.

The standard Ceramic Polymer achieved is:  D-SPSC-GKS
