In Gainesville, Camp Broadway is featuring songs and scenes from the popular musical from Broadway’s awarding winning lyricist Lynn Ahrens and composer Stephen Flaherty’s Once on This Island Jr., taught by experienced professionals direct from Broadway including; Director, Michelle Robinson (Chicago, Dreamgirls); Choreographer Carol Bentley (Spamalot); and Musical Director Bill Newberry, (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat). In addition, the Phillips Center production staff will lead a behind-the-scenes tour to enlighten aspiring artists on how shows are produced and the many careers available in the theater.
Camp Broadway enables theater-loving kids, ages 10-17, to develop their confidence, character and presentation skills through ensemble performance in a safe, supportive and professional environment. Young performers will enjoy 40 hours of classes in singing, dancing and acting in preparation for the annual Family Finale that will be held at the beautiful Phillips Center—on the stage where many world-class artists perform. In addition to instruction in musical theater performance, children receive Camp Broadway’s official t-shirts, healthy lunches, snacks and more. No experience is necessary. Enrollment is limited.
