MEHRAULI, India - June 16, 2014 - PRLog -- Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts & Communication, New Delhi offers a post graduate diploma course in Creative Documentary. The admission for this course is now open and the classes are scheduled to commence in November this year.

The Creative Documentary Filmmaking course stimulates students to engage thoroughly and with full enjoyment of each part of the practice of filmmaking. Camera, sound, editing, ideation, research, script and direction—all aspects of filmmaking will be dealt with in detail through practical exercises and theoretical engagement.  While the course will provide the students with a strong grounding in film craft, it seeks to break down the walls between creative and technical, theory and practice, form and content. The students will be encouraged to unearth and understand the links between these, and begin their journey as filmmakers who are open to exploration and experimentation.

This Creative Documentary Film Making course prepares its students to emerge as creative and confident individuals who have an excellent command of various aspects of filmmaking. It is designed as a unique programme that adopts a comprehensive and holistic approach to teaching and learning. The course curriculum also includes film screenings, discussions, conversations and talks which will feature directors, writers, editors, cinematographers, sound recordists, sound designers, other artists and scholars. The course follows a tri semester system, each trimester being four months. The twelve month period also incorporates location study, research, and attendance at film festivals. On successful completion of the course, many students would go onto apprentice with senior filmmakers, at least early in their careers and later embark into independent practice, or jobs. Freelance professionals can pursue direction, camerawork, sound, editing and allied fields of practice. Graduates in any discipline may apply for this course. The selection process is therefore, based not only on a candidate’s academic record, test scores and intelligence, but also his or her level of awareness, commitment and willingness to learn.
Admission is subject to an aptitude test followed by an interview.
