Suspected Gunman Dead, Officer Injured in Henderson Nevada Shootout

LAS VEGAS - June 13, 2014 - PRLog -- On June 11th of this year, Henderson police responded to a call of shots fired near Horizon Ridge in Henderson (a suburb of the Greater Las Vegas area).  They arrived on scene at around 4:30pm when they report the suspect opened fire on them.  20 year Henderson Police Department veteran, Timothy Donnelly was injured in the gun battle while the suspect was killed.  Donnelly was treated and released from the hospital relatively quickly, and his prognosis is good.

Donnelly has been with the Henderson police since 1994, and the officers involved are suspended with pay, as per protocol in officer-involved shootings such as this one.

One thing that is certain thus far is that this shootout has nothing to do with the tragic events that unfolded just a few days earlier in Las Vegas where 2 metro officers having lunch at a local pizza establishment were ambushed and murdered by a husband and wife.  That duo then went to a neighboring store and murdered another man before getting into a shootout with police.  Both gunmen were killed in that altercation.  Prayers are much appreciated and much needed.
