Adelphi University TV Broadcast Series Exploring Critical Issues Wins Bronze in Annual Telly Awards

Award Marks Fourth Time Popular Television Series is Honored

HUNTINGTON, N.Y. - June 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Adelphi University is pleased to announce that its televised series Exploring Critical Issues has been selected as a Bronze winner for outstanding achievement in the 35th Annual Telly Awards for its show entitled, “ECI Highlights.”  This marks the fourth time that the popular broadcast series has been recognized with a Telly. Exploring Critical Issues is the public affairs broadcast series conceived and hosted by Adelphi University President Dr. Robert A. Scott.

On receiving the award, Adelphi University President Dr. Scott said, “With entries submitted from all 50 states and other countries this year, it is truly an honor to be recognized with a Telly for our efforts.  As the ‘engaged’ University, Adelphi is proud to sponsor Exploring Critical Issue and remains dedicated to providing our viewers with programming that examines key regional and global issues in an interesting manner through discussion with expert panelists.”

The winning program was a retrospective that featured highlights of shows from the past year.  Topics covered included Energy, War Veterans, Hunger on Long Island, Autism & Asperger’s Syndrome, Inter-faith Relations and Violence in America.  The Exploring Critical Issues series airs in New York and Connecticut on Cablevision 29 (Long Island) and 137 (CT and NY area outside of Long Island), FiOS 296 (NY and Fairfield, CT) and streams simultaneously at www.telecaretv.org.

“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Telly Awards Executive Director Linda Day.  “Exploring Critical Issues’ accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”

The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators and corporate video departments in the world.

A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence the Telly represents.  The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work – entries do not compete against each other – rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit.   Less than 10% of entries are chosen as winners of the Silver Telly and approximately 25% of entries are chosen as winners of the Bronze Telly.
