The Debate about New Jersey's "Keep it Made in America" Bill (S1811)

The debate about New Jersey's "Keep it Made in America" Bill (S1811) will bring out some very interesting arguments about manufacturing in America. What is the state of manufacturing where you live? And how would you vote on this bill?

SAN MATEO, Calif. - June 12, 2014 - PRLog -- THE DEBATE ABOUT NEW JERSEY’S “KEEP IT MADE IN AMERICA” BILL (S1811) (which could also affect legislation in New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware), WILL BRING OUT SOME VERY INTERESTING ARGUMENTS ABOUT MANUFACTURING IN AMERICA

While it looks like New Jersey’s proposed legislation about expanding their made in America requirement on public purchases will receive bi-partisan support in the New Jersey legislature, the bill is likely to create some very heated debate, especially because the bill would extend the current statute to cover bi-state authorities with New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware, contingent upon each state passing identical legislation.

When you do any follow-up stories on the debate about this proposed legislation, you might also want to take a look at a poem called “It used to be made in America” by Robert Barrows, President of R.M. Barrows, Inc. Advertising & Public Relations in San Mateo, California.

You can see the poem online at www.itusedtobemadeinamerica.com and also at www.madeinusa.us.com.

“The poem is about the loss of jobs and the consequences of the
outsourcing of manufacturing to other countries, says Barrows, and it paints a vivid picture of conflicting economic forces. Those are the kinds of issues that you will see in the debate about this pending legislation,” says Barrows.

Barrows hopes to be able to develop the poem into a variety of projects such as songs and television projects that could help bring more attention to the need for manufacturers and retailers to start making more of their manufacturing and purchasing decisions to offer more goods that would be made in America.

Barrows has also developed a proposal for a web-based Made in America business that would feature a series of web-based directories about manufacturing, jobs, products, requests for proposals and sources of funding for projects that would be made in America.

The directories would be on a companion website called www.madeinusa.us.com. At the moment, both websites are identical. He is hoping to find some commercial interest to help develop these projects.

(NOTE TO EDITORS: Media companies might also be interested in developing these kinds of directories because they could generate very substantial revenues on an ongoing basis and they could also give you access to hundreds of thousands of potential advertisers, all across America. Companies that would be interested in taking a look at Barrows’ proposal about these projects should contact Robert Barrows at R.M. Barrows, Inc. Advertising & Public Relations in San Mateo, California at 650-344-4405.)

"It will be interesting to see if the legislation passes and if other states follow suit," says Barrows.
