Before becoming the Ronald McDonald House Executive Director, Sorochak worked at non-profit organizations for 18 years. He spent seven of those years working for the Ronald McDonald House of the Carolinas and two working for the Ronald McDonald House of the Coastal Empire.
“My passion lies with the Ronald McDonald House because it serves every type of illness and injury that children from 0 to 22 years old encounter,” said Sorochak.
Before working at the Ronald McDonald House, he served as the Development Director for the Girl Scout Council, Executive Director for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Executive Director for Susan G. Komen.
Sorochak is from Torrington, CT. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in human resource management and a minor in marketing from the University of Connecticut.
He enjoys spending time with his children, playing golf, basketball, biking and the opportunity to talk about the Ronald McDonald House.
Sorochak is the winner of the Ronald McDonald House International Best Bets Award and the creator and founder of the Red Shoe Society (RSS), a group of young professionals who support the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Members of the Coastal Empire Red Shoe Society, network and create friendships with other community-minded young professionals while also helping critically-ill children and their families.

The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire is to create, find and support programs that directly enhance the health and well-being of children and families. The Savannah Ronald McDonald House has thirteen bedrooms and operates on a waiting list most of the year. The House provides a “home away from home” for families who live more than thirty miles away and who have a critically ill or injured child receiving treatment at Memorial Children’s Hospital, Candler Hospital, or where needed in the Coastal Empire. The House provides a warm, home-like atmosphere where families can sleep, eat, watch TV or just relax and most importantly spend time with each other and with other families in similar situations.
