Baran recently transitioned from General Electric (GE) as Account Manager. For over ten years, he was responsible for the sale of software and real time control systems to major Investor Owned Utilities. Before 2003, Baran held several positions within the electric utility industry at major corporations, such as Westinghouse Electric and ABB Group. His responsibilities were in developing technical and financial proposals, sales, product management and customer support.
“Steve brings a wealth of industry experience, as well as the insights that come from customer service experience at a successful large electric company. He will be a great addition to our team,” said Carl Livingood, GSI President.
Baran’s experience in the electric utility industry has covered all facets of the business: generation, energy markets, transmission and distribution, and retail. In addition, Baran has worked in other prevalent industries, such as natural gas pipeline and distribution.
“The customer always comes first,” Baran said. “I’m excited to be a part of this team and help grow GSI with a strong sense of customer service orientation.”
Baran is active in the Knights of Columbus organization and has a particular passion for the Special Olympics.
He received a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from the University of Akron.
