Lt. Christopher Martin, US Navy, Receives AFCEA DC Military IT Leadership Award

The Grantham University graduate and adjunct instructor was selected as one of two USN recipients

LENEXA, Kan. - June 12, 2014 - PRLog -- Each year, the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association Washington, D.C. Chapter (AFCEA DC) recognizes technology heroes from each branch of the armed services and joint forces with the Military IT Leadership Award. This year, Grantham graduate and adjunct instructor, Lieutenant Christopher Martin (http://bridge.caspio.net/dp.asp?AppKey=82bd000005d321b55ad24b03991a), was selected as one of two Navy recipients.

Lt. Martin is currently the Atlantic Submarine Force Ashore Communications Planning/Requirements Officer and Information Assurance Manager. In this role, he is responsible for coordinating a worldwide network of Naval communications stations and transmitters. He is also an instructor at Grantham University teaching courses in computer concepts, advanced microcomputer applications and e-commerce. Lt. Martin was selected for the Military IT Leadership Award for his numerous efforts in advancing the field of Submarine Cyber Warfare.

“I cannot adequately express how honored I am. This award represents a milestone in my career, one that validates the extensive work accomplished,” said Lt. Martin. “I could not have earned this achievement without the support of my wife, sons, the leadership and my co-workers at both Commander Submarine Forces, Atlantic and Pacific Fleet. Additionally, I must recognize the knowledge and skills I obtained while earning my Master of Science in Information Management – Project Management at Grantham University. The courses provided a foundation from which I grew in my career. It is an outstanding privilege to be selected and is a reflection of the investment by many in my career and the trust they have shown in my abilities.”

This year’s recipients were honored at AFCEA DC Spring Leadership Dinner May 15 at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Va. The event featured a keynote presentation by Admiral William J. “Fox” Fallon (U.S. Navy, Ret.), and honored the country’s Warfighters for their service and the sacrifices that they have made in defending our nation.
