The Smith Punk is Making Trouble Again

Eco-feminist author and activist, River Smith, (at troublemakingpunk.org) is now claiming that manhood is at fault for all the violence in the world.

CLEVELAND - June 12, 2014 - PRLog -- River Smith has added a post to his eco-feminist troublemaking blog, that argues for a new masculinity for the new millenium.  Smith argues, based in part on Riane Eisler's work, that the patriarchal based dominator societies that run most of the world train boys to be uptight and violent.

Since almost all the violence in the world is perpetrated by boys or men, and there is no real evidence that this is biologically based, psychologist Smith contends that the problem is founded in the training for manhood, and the fear of being considered "unmanly" like "a little girl."  Therefore, a new kind of manhood is needed.

Other posts on http://troublemakingpunk.org include a few essays by Smith and other bloggers that address the issues of profiling and violence directed against young Black men. There's a general essay on how people who want to be White allies in the fight against racist oppression can learn to minimize their own racist behavior.  There are also essays addressing issues of sexual harassment and sexist oppression through the use of images.

The blog also includes a video poem and essay challenging racist images in sports.

Over all, there's a lot of bean spilling, boat rocking, troublemaking obnoxiousness that provides a great read and inspiration.
