BRANDON, Fla. - June 11, 2014 - PRLog -- Florida Advanced Technological Education (FLATE) Center (http://www.fl-ate.org/), the National Science Foundation Center of Excellence for high-tech manufacturing, partnered with Suncoast Credit Union Foundation (https://www.suncoastcreditunion.com/) to offer 11 scholarships for the  2014 “Girls Only” robotics camp. The Girls Onlycamp is scheduled for June 16-20, 2014, is open to all girls entering 6th– 9thgrade as of September 2014, and will be held at Hillsborough Community College (HCC) in Brandon.

The Suncoast Credit Union Foundation scholarships were awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. To date six scholarships have been awarded, with five spots still available. The Foundation provided the scholarships for low income families in an effort to expose girls from low income backgrounds to careers in science and technology. FLATE’s robotics camps, which have been offered since 2006, will feature, for the FIRST time, the all NEW Lego® Mindstorms® EV3 Robot system.

In addition to the Girls ONLY robotics camp, FLATE is offering additional camps for middle and high school boys and girls. Cost for each, week-long camp is $175. Space and registrations are still open for the Girls ONLY camp in June and the Intermediate and High School camps in July. To register for the camps visit: http://fl-ate.org/projects/camps.html
