Air Force Appoints CIO and Marines to Train Officers to Fly Drones

June 11, 2014 - PRLog -- The Marine Corps is training its new officers to fly unmanned aerial vehicles in basic training.

The trainees will use a Raven UAV at the basic school, which is one of the most common drones in the world.

“By teaching and training this at the first school new Marine officers attend, they will take this knowledge and develop new tactics, techniques and procedures earlier on in their careers, helping the Group 1 UAS program grow within the Marine Corps,” said Major Justin Betz, TBS air officer.

Instructors at The Basic School took a two week course on how to teach students about UAS systems and will begin teaching their own students soon.
