NEW YORK - June 11, 2014 - PRLog -- American Conference Institute (ACI) is honored to have all three major associations for the Dietary Supplements Industry –namely the Natural Products Association (NPA), Counsel for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), and American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) present at this year’s ACI’s Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance Forum on Dietary Supplements which will take place at the Carlton Hotel in New York City on  June 18 -19, 2014.

Daniel Fabricant, formerly with FDA and now the newly appointed Executive Director and CEO of the Natural Products Association (NPA) will co-chair this event along with Scott Bass, Head of Sidley Austin LLP’s Global Life Sciences Department .

In addition to Dr. Fabricant’s presence at this event as NPA’s Executive Director and CEO, ACI is also delighted that Steve Mister, President and CEO of the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) and Michael McGuffin, President of American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) will also be present.

As Stephanie Butler, Division Manager of ACI’s  Life Sciences and Health Care Division noted, “ this event has attained “must-attend” status to become the forum where the  leaders of dietary supplements industry’s three major trade associations gather with other  ‘movers and shakers’ to discuss and assess political, legislative, regulatory and judicial developments impacting business decisions and long-term strategies.”

Lisa J. Piccolo, Senior Industry Manager, Life Sciences and Health Care with ACI stated “ACI is honored to have the opportunity to work with Scott Bass and Daniel Fabricant on this this event once again.  We are also quite pleased that for the first time, all three leading trade associations for the supplements industry, namely, American Herbal Products Association (AHPA), Counsel for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), and the Natural Products Association (NPA) will present , in addition to representatives from the FTC and NAD  and leading manufacturers such as Garden of Life, Herbalife, Kemin, NBTY, NuSkin, Pfizer Consumer Care, Pharmalite, Reckitt Benckiser, and Nature’s Way.”

Piccolo went on to say “on this, the 20th anniversary of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA), the time for this conference has never been more apropos. With longtime industry advocate, Senator Tom Harkin not seeking re-election, and attempts by Senator Durbin and others to sponsor legislation contrary to DSHEA, the industry is entering a challenging time. ACI has designed this year’s agenda with these challenges in mind and seeks to provide a forum to help the industry find solutions to these and other  day-to-day dilemmas impacting supplement manufacturers.”
