LUDHIANA, India - June 11, 2014 - PRLog -- Wave Group has always been committed to social welfare as a commitment to its guiding principles, and taking the trend further, Vice-chairman Monty Chadha, reached out to the needy of Ludhiana by initiating a drive wherein winter blankets were allotted. The drive was an extension of Wave Group’s CSR (http://thewavegroup.com/csr.php) initiatives towards creation of an equitable society.

The drive was conducted in the presence of Monty Chadha and Wave’s CSR unit. The distribution spanned students from the three schools dedicated to the cause of social welfare by providing free education.

With this aid, about more than two hundred natives of the town would be able to brace up for the harsh North Indian winters. The winter season is particularly harsh in Punjab with temperatures known to dip to zero degrees, at places.

Every year these low temperatures claim poor lives in numbers and the most vulnerable happen to be children. Nearly frigid temperatures and lack of shelter facilities account for many in the area having to bear harsh winter nights out in the open.  Since children are the most likely to be affected, a bunch of over forty blankets was specially allocated to the special students of the Ashirwad School, Ludhiana, a subsidiary establishment under the Ashirwad Child Development Centre umbrella.

The Centre is well-known as a holistic care facility looking after the physical, motor, and cognitive development of differently abled children and children with disabilities. The facility can house more than two-hundred children at a time and is well-equipped with distinguished faculty and infrastructure. It also runs free programs aiming to create greater awareness about special needs among the parent-teacher community.

The National Child Labour Program (NCPL), a government-driven initiative which aims at helping children forced to labor in unsuitable conditions of work, also associated itself with the drive and helped administer the program.

Monty Chadha also promised, on the occasion, that Wave Group will continue to be at forefront of alleviating poverty and malnutrition. He also laid out his vision that social balance is imperative for India to keep pace with growing demand for socioeconomic parity.
