By: Quality Parks According to the Wall Street Journal (http://online.wsj.com/ "Its large and varied stock of restaurants, night life and outdoor concerts and festivals attract people from across Long Island, and its compact size makes it pedestrian-friendly for visitors and residents alike." What better place to offer the teachings of a Long Island Naturalist & Artist. Ján Porinchak, will be teaching the art of nature journaling. His style is exquisite and this manner engaging, as he makes it easy for you too to put pen to paper and create your own artistry. He has offered several sessions with us, and each time all students walk away pleased. Session Description S-I: Long Island Explorer This will be an overview of the Long Island natural areas and their natural history. From learning how to identify common plants, to understanding the jurisdictional responsibilities of Parks (federal, state, county, town), you will begin to piece together a broad regional view of natural areas in your community. We will apply nature journal writing as a form of self-expression and as your means to record your studies of native plants, wildlife, and their habits, along with with your observations of key indicators of a healthy natural area.
