Talk is Cheap! Movement Day 2014

NEW YORK - June 10, 2014 - PRLog -- On October 23, 2014, The New York City Leadership Center will host what is becoming the fastest growing and most influential gathering of urban ministry leaders in the country. In a few short months, Movement Day will convene leaders from around the world for the 5th consecutive year to explore best practices and seek solutions to some of the greatest spiritual and social challenges of our time.
What makes the event unique is the fact that Christian leaders are gathering not just from the church, but from the marketplace, non-profits, government and ministries to not only share ideas but establish measurable goals to achieve during the coming year. Movement Day is conducted in collaboration with Dr. Tim Keller as featured faculty and co-hosted by American Bible Society and World Vision.

The vision of Dr. Mac Pier, founder and CEO of The NYCLC, has been clear from the event’s inception in 2010.

“Our mission is to facilitate collaborative partnerships among Christian leaders, foster networking and inspire spiritual and social transformation in urban centers,” states Pier. “Each year has witnessed not only numerical growth in attendance, but expanded geographical impact and influence as leaders from around the world have gathered in New York City to learn from one another and then return to their own cities to put those  practices into action. We successfully replicated Movement Day within another major city this past January in Dallas, TX with Movement Day Greater Dallas . As a result of those efforts and the expanding influence of Movement Day in New York, leaders from other major urban centers like Phoenix, San Diego, Singapore, Sao Paulo and Durban are exploring the possibility of bringing a gospel movement to their city.”

As the results attest,  is not just about discussion, it is about mobilizing influential Christian leaders from all sectors of society and creating gospel movements. In the process, it serves as an accelerant to what God is already doing in a city to address issues such as hunger, poor graduation rates and prisoner re-entry. The ultimate goal is to witness the transformation of cities through gospel movements on both a national and global scale.

The morning plenary session will provide inspiration and insight from some of the best thinkers on urban ministry, while the afternoon tracks will offer practical opportunities for attendees to personally interact with other leaders from around the world and in the end, provide real solutions for them to take back to their own cities. “We are facing what appear to be insurmountable spiritual and social needs throughout the world,” states Pier. “I am convinced that the only true remedy is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If our leaders will come together in prayer, in unity and in effort, I truly believe that we can positively impact our cities for the Kingdom of God.”
