Entrepreneur Launches New Watch Company That Raises Nearly $30K in First 30 Days

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - June 10, 2014 - PRLog -- PORTSMOUTH, Va. – When Randy D. Williams struggled to find a watch that was sleek, versatile and affordable, he decided to design his own. His new watch company, Talley & Twine, debuted on Kickstarter.com with nearly $30,000 in sales in the first 30 days. The watches are now available for pre-order at www.talleyandtwine.com.

During the crowd-funding campaign, 184 backers from across the U.S., Canada, Germany, Singapore, Australia and the Netherlands helped Williams exceed his $24,550 goal by $4,634. Only 40 percent of Kickstarter projects are successfully funded. Williams used the funds to fulfill his first large order of watches from the manufacturer.  Customers will receive the watches in August.

The company’s first model, The Worley Chronograph, features a white face with silver accents and exterior. Customers can choose from nine colorful canvas straps in solid, striped and camouflage designs that are fully interchangeable. Brown and black leather straps are also available. Watches start at $145. Additional straps start at $20. “A great watch should be affordable, stylish, durable, original and eye-catching,” Williams said. “I set out to design a watch that is a conversation piece.”

Talley & Twine not only offers a stylish and cost-friendly watch, but it also strays from the traditional business model of watch companies by selling directly to the consumer. “My goal is to give each customer a pleasant and personal buying experience. Quality and customer service are paramount for Talley & Twine,” Williams said.

Williams fostered that personal shopping experience by turning to social media to introduce Talley & Twine. Social media outlets such as Instagram and Twitter allow Williams to interact with prospective and current customers, answering questions and introducing new products.

Williams founded Talley & Twine on two principles: legacy and lifestyle. “We want to set the standard for future generations, and we want to look good doing it,” Williams said. “Talley & Twine represents hope, legacy and a bright future and serves as a model for aspiring entrepreneurs.”

Talley & Twine is named after an intersection in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia where a notorious, crime-riddled public housing project once stood. The area is now a completely redeveloped neighborhood that caters to first-time homebuyers with new construction single-family and multi-family homes. “A place with a dark past now has a bright future.  Talley & Twine represents that future,” Williams said.
