Bedales U15 Rounders Team
PRLog - Jun. 10, 2014 - PETERSFIELD, U.K. -- Eight Bedales students have qualified to represent the South-east at the next Athletics Championship to be held on the 14th June. They secured their places after qualifying in the South East Hampshire Athletics competition at the Mountbatten Centre. A notable victory came from the Junior Boys 4 x 100 team, they did particularly well against strong opposition.

In cricket, the U14 team won their first match of the season against Ditcham Park. The U15 boys won Meoncross in the first round of the ECB/ESCA U15 20/20 cricket with a team score of 193 for 5 wickets after 20 overs, and went through to the second round to play Portsmouth Grammar School. They then went on to secure a win against Lord Wandsworth College. After losing the toss they were put in to bat first scoring 107 after their 20 overs. In the field the team once again performed exceptionally well and restricted LWC to 95 for 6 off their 20 overs to earn a credible win.

In tennis, the senior boys beat Kingsley 7-6 with Ed Boyd Wallis and Tom Reynolds holding their nerve to win the tie break shootouts. The senior girls beat Thorndon 10-2 in a very comfortable match. Both the boys U15As and Bs beat PGS 5-1, and the U15A boys and U15B girls won 6-0 against Perins School and won 6-0 and 4-2 respectively against Robert May’s in the Aegon Cup.

The U14 and U15 girls’ matches against Christ’s Hospital both went to tie- break after some very competitive games, and the 1sts won. The U15A girls’ tennis teams played PGS winning 4-2. The U14/15 senior teams also beat Lord Wandsworth College, winning seven out of nine sets and two out of three matches respectively.

In rounders, the U15 girls’ team beat Bohunt 18-4 and in golf, five students went to Seaford College to play their junior team and won 3-2.

Head of Bedales Sport, Sonia Cartwright, said: “This first half of the summer term has been incredibly busy with fixtures across the board. We are pleased with the results to date and look forward to further successes as this academic year draws to a close.”
