KTM Roofing Celebrates Memorial Day By Announcing Continuing Support For the Wounded Warrior Project

June 9, 2014 - PRLog -- KTM Roofing, which has provided residential and commercial roofing solutions in the Atlanta area for over 30 years, is celebrating the Memorial Day weekend by announcing its continuing support of the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). The award-winning company has been a proud and consistent supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project and this announcement confirms that commitment for the long term.

The Wounded Warrior Project provides a variety of services to veterans and military service members who have suffered physical or mental trauma while in service of their country after the attacks on the World Trade Center buildings and the Pentagon that killed over 3,000 people on September 11^th, 2001. The 9/11 attacks, in which hundreds of firefighters and other first responders were killed along with thousands of civilians prompted an influx of Americans to volunteer for military service to serve their country. WWP’s objective is to serve the brave men and women who answered this call.

The services offered by WWP to Armed Service members and their families are based on the project’s vision, which is “… to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history.” To reach that objective, WWP takes an integrated path that incorporates the care of warriors’ physical and mental wounds to address their specific needs while also facilitating optimal health and well-being.

For WWP and the host of other organizations that provide services to wounded members of the Armed Services and their families, the challenge is immense with estimates that, since the start of the Iraq War in 2003 and continuing through the ongoing war in Afghanistan, approximately 1 million service men and women had received treatment at Department of Veterans’ Affairs hospitals for “non-fatal casualties”. Of these injuries, it is estimated that between 270,000 and 300,000 involve traumatic brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is currently estimated, however, that of the 2.6 million Armed Service members that have been deployed in the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, 20 percent of returning veterans are suffering from PTSD, which would almost double current treatment estimates.
