The awards program is produced by Pet Age, a national publication covering all things in the pet industry, providing the latest industry news and more.
The Business of the Year awards program celebrates independent pet businesses for excellence and entrepreneurial success. Finalists were selected in 11 categories: Aquatic Retailer, Boarding/Pet Day Care Facility, Natural Products, Pet Retailer – over 5 million, Pet Retailer – under 5 million, Philanthropic Programs, Reptile Retailer, Social Media Campaign, Training Facility, Veterinary Office and Website.
Finalists and winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges including: Caitlyn Bolton, Pet Industry Sustainability Coalition, Cathy Calliotte, PIJAC, Laurie Johnson, Executive Director, Florida Little Dog Rescue, John Mack, Reptiles by Mack and Les Wilson, Cobalt International Inc.
The Business of the Year finalists will be profiled and the Gold, Silver and Bronze winner in each category will be revealed in the awards publication inserted in the August issue of Pet Age.

About Colleen Demling: With over 9000 hours and 12 years of HANDS ON dog training experience, Pawtopia’s founder, Colleen Demling, has vast experience in a variety of methodologies. She is a CPDT-KA as well as an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. She trained Service Dogs for Canine Companions for several years before starting Pawtopia.
