FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - June 9, 2014 - PRLog -- Each year at the Trafficking In America Task Force (TIATF) National Conference on Human Trafficking, an awards luncheon is held to honor advocates from across the United States for their service, courage, valor, and pioneering efforts. The annual Tear Drop Awards are a highlight of the conference. “Advocates work hard and often without payment for their effort to combat human trafficking,” states Yvonne Williams, coordinator for the conference. “We love to honor them and this event adds a wonderful time of camaraderie with an uplifting element to the 3-day event.

Bonnie Jo Daniels, Program Director for Hope For Freedom of Christ Fellowship in Palm Beach County; Stephanie Bell, of 211 and a member of the Broward Human Trafficking Coalition; and Beppy Bennet, GAL at Florida's Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Courts, the three finalists chosen from applications that were submitted to the conference committee, were surprised in front of their peers on Wednesday. Tanya Meade, conference assistant accompanied Williams on a trek to make the surprise announcements. “It was a wonderful experience,” said Meade after the presentations were made. “Watching their expressions of surprise and tears of gratitude was worth every minute. Selecting 1 winner of the 3 will be a difficult task becasue they all give so much of themselves.”

The winner of the South Florida Abolitionist of the Year will be announced at the 2014 Human Trafficking Conference. The 4th National event will be held in West Palm Beach, FL at the Airport Hilton, WPB July 16th to 18th. Master of ceremonies for the TIATF Tear Drop Awards luncheon will be Anthony Chambers, radio host of Pay it Forward on WFML 104.7 FM The FLAME and Discover Your Power WIRA 1400 AM.

About the Trafficking in America Task Force

Trafficking in America Task Force is a 501c3 non-profit charitable organization and has been working since 2004 to educate the American population about the reality of the sale of American women, men, and children into sexual slavery for the profit and pleasure of their perpetrators, and that the forced labor trafficking of both adults and children is real in this country. Our Vision is to help eliminate the human trafficking of women, men and minor children in America, and to provide a culture for our children free of sexual exploitation and slavery, where people know and own their own intrinsic value.
