Wadena MN Family Event Announced Will Include Air Show and Many Family Activities

WADENA, Minn. - June 9, 2014 - PRLog -- June 9, 2014

The Wadena Pilots Association Inc. of Wadena, MN is proud to announce the 2014 Wings and Wheels, fly and drive-in event. A family event designed to introduce general aviation to the community and encourage the general publics involvement in their airport and local aviation activities. Each year the Association brings together a mix of aviation, automobile, agriculture and hobby enthusiasts to create an event that provides a morning of family friendly activities and fun.

This year the, Wings and Wheels Fly/Drive-In, will feature:

  * Aircraft Display
  * Aerobatic Performance - Featuring Dick Shultz Airshows (and more)
  * Warbird Display
  * Car Show
  * Life Flight Helicopter Display
  * Model Aircraft Display and Demonstration
  * Airplane Rides
  * Helicopter Rides
  * Pancake Breakfast served by the Hewitt Lions
  * Raffle
  * Lunch served by the Wadena Pilots Association
  * Family Activities, Including; Airplane Toss, Coloring Contest, "Name the Parts" of a plane contest and Face Painting
  * Awarding of the 2014 Aviation Scholarship

The aerobatic performance will commence at 11:00 AM and continue for 1 hour. This year will feature the performance of Dick Schulz Airshows among others. During this time the airspace around the Wadena Airport will be closed to inbound and transient air traffic.


Entry to this years event is absolutely free! Which means that a family can see the airplane displays, car show, tractors, model aircraft demonstrations and the 1 hour air show Absolutely Free of Charge! Parking is also free.

Aircraft pilots are encouraged to participate in the event by flying into the Wadena Municipal Airport (KADC) with their aircraft and enjoy the day with the general public.

The gates open to the public at 8:00 AM June 28, at the Wadena Municipal Airport located 3 miles West of Wadena on County Highway 77. The event concludes at 1:00 PM.

General aviation is a sector of aviation that includes smaller aircraft operations including but not limited to: business jet, law enforcement, personal travel, agricultural application aircraft, medical operations, charter operations, wildlife counts, aerial survey, weather research, sky diving operations, tourism, humanitarian missions, fire suppression and much more. According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation there are more than 650,000 pilots nationwide from all walks of life enjoying aviation and putting aircraft to work for our communities. Pilots contribute a great deal to their communities by providing services, volunteering, supporting local business and enabling the wellness of our communities.

The Wadena Pilots Association Inc. is a group of local citizens enthusiastic about aviation and promoting it within the community. Starting in 2014 the Association will be awarding scholarship to individuals interested in learning to fly or advancing their aviation training. The awards will be presented at the annual fly-in.
