All students will be studying, developing and experiencing powerful life lessons focusing on understanding the value and benefit of being a person who respects the rules and the spirit of competition. In addition to all of the physical skills that they'll be working on this month, students will be discussing and practicing the following concepts both in and out of class: • Sportsmanship defined: How can I win graciously and lose respectfully? • Playing by the rules: Being safe, fair and respectful while in competition. • Competitors, coaches & spectators: How should we act? What should we say? • Dealing with the outcome: What can we learn for the next time? “Good sportsmanship embodies the written and unwritten rules of a game. When we show good sportsmanship, we follow the known rules like “everyone gets a turn,” or “each competitor must wear the appropriate uniform.” But there are also “unwritten” SBN Kristin Quintana, Chief Instructor of Kuk Sool Won™ of Menlo Park says, "We believe that sportsmanship is integral to success in athletics and more importantly in the game of life.
