BALTIMORE - June 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Automobile manufacturing companies Chrysler Group LLC,  BMW and General Motors Company, along with automotive technology supplier Delphi Automotive PLC will attend and support Women of Color magazine’s Annual Women of Color Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Conference. For the first time in its 19 year stint, the conference is scheduled to take place October 23-25 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center in the Motor City Detroit, Michigan.

The 2014 Women of Color STEM conference is a multicultural event for women in scientific and technical careers. The conference features several key speakers who will address the underrepresentation of women in these disciplines. The conference will also host training seminars that will highlight important topics such as leadership and professional skills, diversity and inclusion, technical leadership and innovation and career outlook.

“It’s wonderful to have the automotive industry on board with our mission to promote STEM and the advancement of women in STEM fields,” says Career Communication Group’s CEO Tyrone Taborn. “We are elated that the 2014 Women of Color STEM Conference will be held in Detroit, so it speaks volumes to have support from the city and some of largest automakers in the country.”

The Women of Color STEM Conference creates an informal, trusted community that provides support specifically to women professionals and students who seek encouragement and guidance as they prepare to enter into their professions. In addition to providing support, this conference offers a unique opportunity to increase recruitment, retention, professional development and employee recognition capabilities.
