Ford Brings Adaptive Steering to Lower Segment Cars

The most noticeable effect of an adaptive steering system is a reduction in the number of turns of the wheel a driver has to make. For drivers who prefer the old style of steering, the system will be able to be switched off and on as desired.

The adaptive steering, while practical at low speeds, is not limited to any speed range, and drivers who are looking to get the most out of their vehicle—perhaps taking it to the track—will be able to take advantage of adaptive steering at high speeds as well.

In most vehicles, the ratio of wheel turn to steering wheel turn is fixed, but the adaptive steering system changes that, making it far easier and more comfortable to drive than without the system.
