LONG ISLAND, N.Y. - June 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Wantagh, New York - Hip Hop Pioneer Roxanne Shante’ is set to be one   of the honorees  at  the 2014 8K Walk-A-Thon Fundraiser, hosted by

The H.I.P. H.O.P. Movement Community Enrichment and Economic          Development Program on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 9:30am at          Wantagh Park .

2014 8K Walk-A-Thon Fundraiser was developed to create scholarship dollars for college bound, graduating High School seniors.          The theme of the 2014 8K Walk-A-Thon is: Walking Toward A Brighter          Future.

         The 2014 8K Walk-A-Thon is a community based, fun-filled, educational          fundraiser, requiring a collaborative effort from family, friends, communities and sponsors locally and abroad towards the issuance of a merit award, created by The H.I.P. H.O.P. Movement Community Enrichment and Economic Development Program, a youth initiative under The Dollicia F. Holloway Foundation, Inc. a registered 501(c) (3) Not-For-Profit Educational Organization. The purpose of the 8K Walk-A-Thon is to raise funds for high academic achieving graduating college-bound high school seniors to help offset college expenses. This year’s recipient of the 2014 Hip Hop Movement Gold Merit Award is Ms. Rachel Johnson. Rachel is planning to further her studies through the “Study Abroad Program” in London, England and then in the fall, she enrolls as a freshman at Rutgers University.

The H.I.P. H.O.P. Movement Community Enrichment and Economic Development Program offers this merit award opportunity annually to support high achieving academic and community by making awards to secondary school aged students seeking to acquire funds to pursue a collegiate academic degree program (s) that enhances life planning at the local, regional state and national levels..

Along with Roxanne Shante’, this year’s Honorees for the 2014 8K Walk-A-Thon are the Honorable Councilwoman Dorothy L. Goosby, Mr. Shango Blake AKA “The Hip Hop Principal”, Mr. Craig Monteverde AKA” DJ Callie Ban”, and Mr. Ray Thomas, Deputy Director for Minority Health Nassau County Department of Health.
