The International Forum presents Film Night: Alex and Ali

SAN FRANCISCO - June 6, 2014 - PRLog -- San Francisco, Calif. – In recognition of the San Francisco Pride Celebration, the International Forum presents a special screening of “Alex and Ali,” the documentary film that tells the true story of a forbidden love between two men in 1970s Iran, on Thursday, June 26 at 6:30 PM. A 30-minute question and answer session with the film's director, Malachi Leopold, immediately follows the screening.

As a Peace Corps volunteer in 1967, Alex served in Iran where he met Ali, an Iranian Muslim. The two fell in love and kept their relationship secret for ten years until the Iranian Revolution forced Alex to return to the US without Ali. Although they have kept in touch through phone calls, email and letters, this film shows how they seek to overcome the deep political, geographical and cultural divides that have kept them separated for 33 years, and the enormous difficulties associated with this attempt to reunite.

Tickets are priced at $8 for members and students and $10 for non-members. Tickets may be purchased online at www.worldaffairs.org/events/event/1309.
