Dr. Eli Friedman of Friedman Dental Group Informs General Public on Specialty Dental Treatments

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - June 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Dental Specialist and Prosthodontist in Coral Springs, FL, Wants Patients to Know about the Importance of Seeing a Specialist for Dental Treatments such as Dental Implants, Dentures, Crowns and Bridges and other Services that Restore, Replace and Reshape Teeth

Dr. Eli Friedman, Head Oral Surgeon for Friedman Dental Group in Coral Springs, wants the general public to know about the specialty and restorative dental services that are available to them. Many people don't know their options when they require dentures, dental implants, cosmetic crowns, bridges, or other specialty dental work, and Dr. Friedman suggests visiting a dental specialist for any specific oral hygiene needs.

Dr. Friedman warns that it can be difficult for patients to receive proper dental care when many people are unfamiliar with prosthodontics and specialty dental services. Many people are unaware that there are oral specialists people can see about their specific oral hygiene problems. While general dentists can practice prosthodontics or place dental implants, they cannot claim to be specialists or prosthodontists and do not have the additional training or expertise to perform more complicated restorative and cosmetic procedures.

Prosthodontists like Dr. Friedman have undergone specialized training in order to hold the specialist title. "To be a prosthodontist," Dr. Friedman explains, "A dentist is required, after graduation from dental school, to have at least three years of post-doctoral, advanced specialty training in prosthodontics and implantology from an accredited program." In addition to graduating from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and completing an additional three-year post-graduate specialty certificate in prosthodontics at Nova Southeastern University’s School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Friedman is also a member of the American Dental Association and the Academy of Osseointegration.

In general, non-specialists in the dental field typically only take short courses in diagnosis and treatment with minimal hands-on experience. Prosthodontists, Dr. Friedman states, undergo hundreds of hours of hands-on training and continuing education every year, such as in crown and bridge and implant-related treatments. Prosthodontists must also stay well-versed in the latest science and literature in dentistry. Through exposure to the most challenging cases for dental treatments, a prosthodontist maintains expert status by implementing the latest techniques and materials in special dentistry.

For patients who need teeth replaced with dental implants, a prosthodontist trained in implantology can place implants and will have a better perspective of the entire treatment than a non-specialist. Additionally, the patient will have the prosthodontist as the same dentist through the entire course of treatment. Dr. Friedman wants patients to be aware that specialists will be able to provide the best results for these treatments due to their training, and hopes that more patients will choose qualified prosthodontists and specialists for their treatments.
